Glorious weather! At last, after 6 weeks we had sunny weather with temperatures in the 80s. It was a great night to play and we had a great time. It was a night when 3 matches were one-sided, and 3 matches were tied going into the 9th hole. Wendy & John continued their torrid pace with another big win vs. Ed & Bernard. John Thomas led the way with a nice 44/32 net. The "Match of the Week" was Bob & Mike's narrow victory over George & Skip. If you look at the table above you'll see all of the red and blue highlights associated with this match. George had the week's low actual and net scores and finished birdie/par on #8/9. But this was not enough to win on this night. Dobbers brought his "A Game" as well and had pars on #4 and #9. After 6 holes, Mike & Bob held a 2 hole lead but Skip & George came back to tie it, taking the match to the final hole. On #9 George & Mike matched each other and Bob took the match with his bogey 6. Another great match was waged between Nicky & Lorraine vs. Dan & Bob. In this one Lorraine & Nicky were a combined 4 over par after three holes to go up 3-0. Dan & Bob woke up and took the next three holes. Then #7 and #8 were halved. This brought them to #9 where Dan took down his manager. A great win!, but a questionable career move in this economy... In another good match, Ted Atkinson decided that wonderful NY weather wasn't good enough for him. He took off for the islands but forgot one thing... telling Scott he wouldn't be there! This left Scott alone to take on Lynne and this year's super-sub, John Vergo. Without his partner Scott wasn't quite up to the task as he wasn't able to hit the league's low score this week. The absent-no sub penalty was just a little too much on this night. In the first foursome of the night both Chris & Colm hit under par net scores. They are finishing the first half strong and confident. Cal & James haven't quite hit their stride - they are doubtlessly putting together a 2nd half winning strategy! With 2 weeks left Colm & Chris now sit alone in second place. Can they pull out the 1st half championship? Stay tuned! In the other match Mark & Tony had the nights best team-net score (62 between them) and took their match vs. Nick & Adrian. With 2 weeks left in the first half, Wendy & John have extended their lead to 11.5 points. They've scored an average of over 9 points per week! The schedule for them will not be easy as they face the 3rd and 4th place teams in the last two weeks of the half. This lead sounds big, but if they lose both of these matches they could be passed. Can they bring it home? Low Actual & Net: George DeSimone with a 40/30. Nice job! Hardest Hole: #9 at 2.2 over par. Easiest Hole: #7 at 1.1 over par. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
