We're Back!

If you read last week's narrative I documented the shame of the league, how our handicaps were all going to pot. Better weather and 4 weeks of playing have finally made the difference. In Week 4 there were 16 out of 22 rounds that were played with a net 35 or lower. The average net was 33.6. The average actual score was down by 2 shots. We had three birdies. Since we are now adjusting handicaps weekly, some of you will see your handicaps begin to fall again.

On the negative side we had two no shows. Be sure to send a note to the sub distribution list I sent you if you don't have a sub handy.

The storms cleared just in time for a wet course but enjoyable night of golf.

In match 1, Scott and Ted were on fire. They tied for the low actual of the week with 41s. Ted tied for low net of the night with a 27. Still despite this, Chris & Colm saved up their good holes to win the last two this night and pull out a draw in the match. Scott had a par on #4, Ted a par on #9.

The 1st and 2nd place teams could not live with success and tanked their matches.

Nick & Adrian were the victims of sub "mercenaries" John Vergo and Linda Boyer.

Tony Simpkins saw the handwriting on the wall (Skip Mahnke with a 13 handicap! and warmer weather) and stayed home. Skip & George were back on their game this night and dominated Mark.

Nicky & Lorraine continued their hot streak and took 7 holes in their Match vs. James & Cal.

Ed & Bernard had a good match vs. Bob & Mike. This match came down to #9 with Mike & Bob needing the hole to draw the match, but Ed bogeyed the hole and Bernard had a 7 to close out the match. Mike had a par on #4 and birdied #5.

In the last match the absence of a sub made the difference as Dan & Bob defeated Lynne & Craig. Dan had a par on #4, Bob a birdie on #5 and Lynne a birdie on #6. Bob tied for the week's lowest net score with a 27.

Low Actual: Ted Atkinson & Scott Stetler with 41s

Low Net: Bob Kearney & Ted Atkinson with 27s

Hardest Hole: #9 at 2.3 over par.

Easiest Hole: #7 and #8 at 1.0 over par.
