As part of MIT's Global Entrepreneurship class, I traveled with four fellow MBA students to Uruguay to work at a company called Scanntech. Before I got to Uruguay, I spent a week and a half in Argentina. Having already been there two years before, I decided to spend the bulk of my time near the Andes in the scenic town, Mendoza. It was refreshing to be back on the backpack circuit, even if it was only for a short time. Traveling alone again reminded me of days gone by, where it was me against the world...

I spent a couple days in Buenos Aires with a friend. Since I had already spent time there before, I chose to meander through the streets. However, this time, the face of Argentina had been changed. Only a year before, the peso had been devalued and the anger of the people was still quite apparent.

The pictures above and below are from Mendoza - a picturesque town over 1000km (600 miles) West of Buenos Aires. A walk through the town was quite relaxing.

I have now celebrated Christmas twice in my life. The first time was in Chile, and now I celebrated in Argentina. I must say that the holiday is really starting to grow on me. Of course, the Argentines celebrate Christmas like no other nation I have ever seen!

While it was simply too cheap to not stay in a hotel while I was in Mendoza ($8/night got me a lovely room), the real fun in town was still at the hostel. I enjoyed a lovely Christmas dinner there... or was it just the wine?
