MOVIES
Tears of the Sun- March 7
Lt. A.K. Waters, played by Bruce Willis, is a Navy S.E.A.L forced to choose between following orders or following his own conscience. The verdict: This is a new plot. An officer has to choose between following orders or
following his heart, and Bruce Willis as a military officer?! Sounds like a new role for him...Oh wait, we forgot about The Siege...AND Hart's War...what were we thinking?
Agent Cody Banks - March 14
Cody Banks, Frankie Muniz, is a C.I.A. agent whose mission is to spy on a high school dream girl's dad. The verdict: The kid doesn't even shave, and he's already working for the CIA. Talk
about a solid farm system; at this rate the CIA will have undercover toddlers by 2008.
The Hunted - March 14
Tommy Lee Jones stars as a federal agent conducting a manhunt, trying to capture a serial killer who kills down deer hunters. The verdict: Maybe you saw it the first time when it was called The Fugitives, or even
maybe the second time as U.S. Marshals.
Dreamcatcher-March 21
After gaining uncanny powers, four young friends try to stop a deadly alien force from invading the Earth. The verdict: Is it just us or is this whole "save the world from aliens" bit getting kind
of old?
View From the Top-March 21
Donna, Gwyneth Paltrow, dreams of becoming a first rate flight attendant, but the road to success is tough. The verdict: Some people dream to be ballerinas, sports stars, musicians, but Ms.
Paltrow wants to be a flight attendant. Give us a break. We hope this is a comedy, because we laughed while reading the PLOT SUMMARY.
Basic-March 28
John Travolta, a DEA agent, investigates the disappearance of four U.S. elite commandoes and their legendary commander, Samuel L. Jackson. The verdict: It amazes us how John Travolta can still find work after Battlefield
Earth.
Head of State-March 28
Chris Rock stars as Mays Gilliam, a Washington, D.C., neighborhood alderman, who ultimately runs for the Presidency. The verdict: Wait, this isn't right, Chris Rock can't be president. People, this is
America, we don't laugh with our Presidents, we laugh at them.
SHOWS
Ringling Bros and Barnum And Bailey Circus
The circus is in town at Philips Arena March 1 and March 2. Prices range from $12 to $55, and shows are at 11:30 AM, 3:30 PM, and 7:30 P.M. The verdict: The circus: the only indoor place where you have to pay money to smell
animal feces. But Animal Crackers still ROCK.
Sum 41
Pop-punk rockers Sum 41, along with No Use For A Name, The Starting Line, and
Authority Zero, will appear at the Tabernacle March 2. Tickets are $15 in advance, and $17 at the door. Show begins at 7. The verdict: I thought we covered the circus already. Please don't feed the bassist.
Coldplay
Audioslave
Audioslave, composed of former members of Rage Against the Machine and Chris
Cornell, will be at the Tabernacle March 9. If you want to go, too bad, the show is sold out. The show starts at 8. The verdict: Quick, what do you say after hearing Tom Morello (the guitarist of
Audioslave) songs or eating leftover Varsity burgers? "Wow, this crap is getting old." Hey, let's face it, every Tom Morello song sounds the exact same.
Yanni
Philips Arena will host the world famous composer Yanni, March 11, at 7:30. Tickets prices range from $51.50 to $79.50. The verdict: Hahaha. Yanni makes us laugh. Though he is the best thing to come out
of Greece since Democracy.
The Roots, Cody ChesnuTT
Innovative musicians The Roots, along with Cody ChesnuTT will play at the Roxy March 12. Show costs $30, and begins at 9. The verdict: $30? For who? Yeah, so about 4 people will be there.
Edwin McCain, Sister Hazel, and the Indigo Girls
These soft rockers will be at Earthlink Live, formerly called Center Stage, March 22. Prices range from $35 to $60. The verdict: Hey, it's 1998 all over again! Expect to hear the same songs you've been
hearing for the past 5 years. But, if you're a Star 94 listener, you're probably used to that already.
