The morning after our arrival, we trod north following an old road. After some hiking, a bit of climbing, and falling through ceilings of buried rooms, we arrived at the keep and discovered it was inhabited by a small colony of Kobolds.

We met with a young Kobold named Meepo. Apparently while he guarded a caged white wyrmling some goblins from deeper in ruin knocked Meepo our and stole the wyrmling. In exchange for a promised reward we agreed to retrieve monster. In the process we dispatched several goblins and large rats, we rescued Whiff, a gnomish wizard that has since decided to join our little group, found the wyrmling, and returned it to Meepo and the Kobolds.

As it turned out, in exchange for retrieving a kidnapped white wyrmling the Queen provided us with the key to the lower reaches of the ruin.

We'd had enough for the day and returned to town for the night.

The next morning there were stories circulating that an entire field was flattened by a "hurricane", but we could discover nothing more and our mission awaited. So we headed back up the road where we ... okay I ... made a bit of a misjudgment ... it could have been worse.

As we crested a rise we saw several ... well ... walking trees, for lack of a better description, slowly approaching us on the road. They didn't seem overly threatening so I urged the party (especially Kaldes) to wait before attacking them ... maybe they were friendly ... uh ... tree people. We attempted to hail them, but all we got was a selection of guttural grunts and spits.

This, of course, wasn't convincing enough for me, so being the Mighty ... Mighty Stupid maybe ... Druid, who is friend to all trees, people or otherwise, I tried one more time to communicate. I think this time I heard something that sounded amazingly like "Kill".
