They talk every once in a while but Michael’s being snooty and Jane’s
reserved personality set them apart until
that semester ended. Since they have different courses, they didn’t get
the chance to see each other that often.
Summer of 2000, they became textmates exchanging friendly messages and
with those messages, Michael felt that Jane was different. He felt
Jane’s sweetness and sincerity. They constantly sent text messages with
a bunch of phone calls which eventually took longer one after another.
THE
COURTSHIP

School started again for the year 2000-2001. On on that afternoon, Jane was on her way home and
Michael,
who was from his flock of friends, suddenly met in the middle of the
campus, just beside the flagpole, in the heat of the sun. The simple hi
and hello lasted for an hour. They don't know why, but they just can't
end the conversation, which ended with Michael’s promise that he will treat
Jane for lunch the next time around. |
Both nervous and excited as they don’t know why, they had their lunch
the next day. They can still remember how quiet and shy they were with
each other but truly, they enjoyed each other’s company. They both admit
to themselves that they do like each other.
Days passed and they often had snacks, lunch and hanged-out together
more often each and everyday and so as the friendship became
more special. Until, Michael started to have this strange feeling he
felt for the first time. He was falling inlove with his friend, Jane,
who was secretly admiring Michael's meekness. Mike started to show his
affection
for Jane that which made her wonder for the special attention Mike was
offering her.
One evening, Michael could not hold off his feelings anymore. He grabbed
the phone and called Jane telling her that they should talk the next day
and he wants to tell her something important, in person. But Jane
insisted to know what was it all about. After gathering much strength,
he briefly expressed his
special feelings for her. Shocked by what he said, Jane agreed to meet
him the next day.
After class, they met at
the canteen and had snacks. Finally, the topic about last night's
conversation was opened. Michael told her everything about his
feelings and asked Jane's permission for him to court her. Still in
shock, Jane conveyed her fears that it might hurt their friendship if
they take it to the next level. He assured Jane of his pure intensions
and that they will take good care of their friendship no matter what.
Then the courting started.
THE RELATIONSHIP
On the 14th of June 2000, after a tiring day at school, Mike uttered,
"Will you be my girl?" to Jane and without hesitation, she answered
"Sure". They were ready to begin a new relationship together. They became each other’s
"Mine". Simply because they know they belong to each other and
also, MI is for MIchael and NE is for JaNE.
Everyone in their family was so happy knowing about their relationship.
Except… Jane, being a daddy’s girl, was sort of worried on how to tell
it to her Dad who was working abroad, since he said
even before that he would only agree with her having a boyfriend only
after she graduates. But Mike promised her that he will do everything to
have the consent of her Dad.

As expected, when the news reached her Dad, he was shocked and
petrified. Her Dad and Mike got to talk on a long distance phone call and her
Dad had a little peace of mind.
When her Dad had his vacation in the year 2001, Mike, with his Mom and
sister, invited
her family for a dinner for them to finally meet each other’s
family. Everyone was so happy as everything turned out fine. |

Months and a year passed and their relationship grew deeper. In one of
their school subject using connecting wires, Mike improvised a ring and
told Jane how much he loves her and told her about his plans.
The two of them signed an agreement they made stating that they
will marry each other at the proper time. Then weeks afterwards, on their 2nd year
anniversary, Mike told Jane of his plans for their future with a gift of their names engraved on
silver rings and pledged to wed each other after graduation, provided they
both have their careers and are financially stable.

Finally, after years of hardship, they graduated on May 2003. Little by
little, their dreams are coming true. Jane
got a job locally while Mike had to go to Japan to be with his family.
They had no choice but to settle with a long distance relationship.
But
things didn't work out fine and they had to part ways. It came too hard
for them but they still kept their friendship and communicate
every once in a while. |
THE DESTINY
After a year, August 2004, Mike had his vacation. When Mike arrived at
the airport, he was welcomed by heavy rains that of which he thought
that it was a good sign since good things happens to him if it rains,
more like a blessing.
He immediately gave Jane a call.
For old time’s sake, they agreed
to see each other. At first, they were too shy to open up although it
was obvious that they still care for each other.

Days after, they finally went on a date and Mike tried to court her
again.
They first went to church and prayed on their own… prayed that
they may be back to each other’s arms and for God to give them signs if
they were really meant to be.
And what do you know? Their prayers were
answered right that evening and the night ended with them calling each other as “Mine”
again. |

They had dinner the next evening. After
much catching up with each other, Mike uttered, "Will you be my
wife?". Stunned from what she heard, Jane answered with "Yes, I
will". With tears of Joy, they embraced each other as
they open a new chapter in their life. They both could not
explain the overwhelming happiness they felt that very moment. They got
engaged.
Days after, Mike went back
to Japan with their plans of tying the knot after two years. But Mike
was so determined and both agreed to get hitched the next year until
they finally settled to get married before the year ends. And so, Mike
immediately told his parents about their plans and called up Jane's
parents to ask for her hand and they both had the their blessings. The
next day, the wedding preparation began.
"Truly, God has His ways and we feel very much blessed and are thankful
that He brought us back together again in each others arms, now for
eternity... for us to fulfill His
plans for us, and to continue building and making our dreams, hopes,
