His first Album with The Clash was the bands second LP 'Give em enough rope in 1978.
Topper was the perhaps the quietest band member, not often participating in interviews,
Whilst Joe and the others were singing about anti drugs such as 'Straight to hell' Topper had
become dependant on heroin, Which saw him being 'kicked out of the band' As Strummer had quoted "How can I be singing anti drug songs whilst
you are at the back smacked off ya head".
Afterall topper did play a huge role in the Clash as both a musician and a member/friend"
Topper was fired in 1982 his last LP was 'Combat Rock' which was to be the last of the most famous line up.
Even the award winning documentary of "Westway to the world" Topper
refused to take part with the other members and said little that made sense, either whining or putting everything and everyone down....
After the clash he did sone solo work but he never made a name for himself as a solo artist.
these days.....Topper resides in the UK still 24 years later is a heroin addict.
NEWS TO HAND! Thanks to a update from a mate of mine apparently Topper has kicked his heroin addiction!...Thanks rick for that info! let's pray he stays off that stuff for good!!
