		31-12-00 End of December. End of a remarkable year in which I made some big decisions and amazing stuff has happend to me, but then again frankly life is pretty simple provided that you don't make it to complicated for yourself (retrospectives). Anyway up to 2001, I'm excited and up for it!! 28-12-00 Christmas was traditionally Australian. Christmas eve I attented the singing of Christmas Carols in Darling Harbour (kinda lame) meeting up with the Dutchies. Next day a surprised family event as I was invited to a genuine Australian Christmas lunch (woaaah what a lot of food) on Christmas Day (thanks Priscilla, Anne and Bob). This eating fest was followed by sailing (and eating again) on Boxing Day watching the start of the Ocean yachting race Sydney to Hobart with some of Dave's friends. I even watched the traditional test match Cricket on the tellie and... I get it now. It's still hot here and diasater struck when I wanted to finally scan my photos. I have made little notes on the back and then put them on a stack. Now there's black ink on every photo (so no scanning needed). I am still on a positive streak here so now worries. I'll reprint the nicest ones somehow...whatever. Nice to sot here for a while reading emails about christamstime in Holland en getting soem info on the web while eight irritating english boys are playing some on-line interactive wargame and making the noise of twenty but hey it's only 4 dollars here for unlimited!!! Internet so bare with it mate! 23-12-00 A few days before Christmas looking back at a very active week again. Three days of hiking in the Blue Mountains really sort of left me with exploded legs (yeah). The first day together with the group of Dutch girls (that now have expand to five). At the Katoomba Caravan Camping Park I met up with John and Kalan, the Americans from Montena. John and I did a 7 hour hike with two big long climbs in it. Yesterday sailing in the Sydney Harbour again with Dave and Peter (Awesome). Even dragged behind the boat that's how fast we went. Later I hear there are sharks in the Harbour so felt a bit like fishbait there.... Today is warm but rainy, the forecast for the rest of the weekend and Christmas is "bloody hot" 35 degrees. So far for White Christmas Bing! The next Aussie(s) who I'll be meeting up with this week will be Benita (and Paul) and the menu for the coming week is sun, beach, surf and sailing! 15-12-00 Finally met up with Dave this week (the friend in Australia who I used to work with in Holland) spend some time with him gettin' to now the real Syney. Sailing in the Sydney Harbour proofed to be a very adventureous expedition to say the least. Both Dave and his friend Peter had not experienced such a good day of wind and waves. The fact that we almost capsized being just a short shock for all of us, we had heaps of fun. Dave gave me a key to his place so I am welcome to walk in and out when I want (very flexible). So my plan to go to the Blue Mountains I moved up a week, this weekend some more beach (Bondi Beach) ahead. This means I couldn't catch up with two Americans I met earlier with one I shared the awesome sights of lightning and thunder above the ocean while bunking (sleeping) out on the cliffs of Cogee Beach. I true awesome experience! Also saw Danielle (my colleague's cousin). She, being my second local contact I hoped to see, proofed to be a lot of fun and since I've got a mobile now we can easily make arrangements to do some more stuff here with the locals. Sydney is lovely: Cententioal Park is very peaceful, Oxford Street very trendy and Kings Cross a lively mix of whores, druggies, backpackers, culture and bars. Lucky me Dave's house is at the other way of the main highway (up town so to say). Going to grab a bite to eat now...so much choice!! 11-12-00 Mondaymorning and a great week ahead. My time in Cogee comes to an end. Everything in it: swim, sun, party (although lame), friends, food, fun. Beautiful walk along the coast from Cogee to Bronte Beach, bit of rock climbing almost. Saturday we cooked together with the girls. Sydney Harbour tour with three other people I met the day before also went to the Sydney Aquarium. Next plan is to go to the Blue Mountains a few days and return to Sydney for the weekend. Still no luck in contacting David (my ex-colleague form NL) hopefully better luck this week. Oh very hot news indeed, I burned my feet during the coastal walk (auw) but nothing major. Thanks for all the emails and Daisy hope you had a good birthday. 6-12-00 Just arrived in Sydney this morning. I am staying at the Cogee Beach Backpackers Hotel. Dormrooms (4, 6, 8, 10 beds) just 200 meters form the Cogee Beach Bay. 26 degrees Celcius so no complaints here. We (I am travelling together with 5 girls now) were in Bangkok the last two days (as part of a bigger group of 20 I.E.P. members) and it was super.Saw the two biggest Budha temples, the rivers by boattrip and really lucked out over the fact that during our stay it was the King's birthday...of course the Thai food was delicious as always and the night market was weird with the Go Go Girls everywhere around. Back to Sydney. Tommorrow is gonna be a day in which I have to arrange a lot of stuff for my work permit, discount card and whatever more. So busy busy but a lot of fun already! 3-12-00 Saying goodbye to everybody this week (and before) has been very intens and positive...thanks all for a wonderful and exhausting go away dinner/get together/rendez vous/party. I hope this continues for the rest of my journey. I will try to stay in touch definitely.This are the last things I type on Dutch soil since I will be off-line for a few days but thanks again. So friends see ya at the other side of the world and for that special new person in my life...no worries.
