Dear MVCS,

Every Thursday night at 7:30pm a Faith Sharing group consisting of members in their 20’s, 30’s and 40’s, who are single, and have been meeting since the Lenten Season of 2002. We have approximately 20 members. However every Thursday consist of approximately six to ten members that share in prayer, gospel readings and discussion. It begins with an opening prayer, gospel readings for the following Saturday/Sunday’s mass and sharing of feelings and reactions to what was just read. It closes with a prayer and refreshments afterward. Friendship evolves within the group, each member has a unique expression of words that encourages each other to grow spiritually in each of their lives.

We meet at St. Athanasius Church in the classroom building. Reminders are given to the MVCS email distribution one or two days in advance of the group meeting. We meet to allow free expression of sharing and not to judge or advice each other. Sometimes personal hopes or fears are shared related to the gospel readings so confidentiality is required.

Overall, this Faith Sharing group has been and may continue to be successful when each individual allows the Holy Spirit to come into their hearts and give each of them courage to share.
