MINISTRY OF DEFENSE
The MoD fulfills two missions. First, it is the mission of this ministry to provide for the defense of Eirennia Scotia, her people, and their interests. The second mission is to act as a positive force for international peace and security. To fulfill this mission the MoD is charged with the following responsibilities:
Recruit, train, equip and motivate future military servicemen
Develop careers and skills necessary to produce responsible citizens
Encourage defense technology in science and industry
Eirennia Scotia has a rich military history. Before the founding of the Confederacy, Hibernian militias had been developed into efficient small armies. The small regional militias were easily integrated into the regiment system of today. As an island state Hibernia has always maintained a strong naval tradition. However, much of Hibernians naval background is in piracy. As a result the Hibernian Fleet does not posses the same level of organization. This is apparent in the less developed rank structure and limited use of large vessels.

The military is divided into three branches the War Command, the Fleet Command, and the National Service. Although there exist a distinction between the three, all branches work in cooperation to achieve the Ministry’s missions. Both branches have been organized for joint operations under the central operational control of the MoD. The MoD is lead by the Supreme Commander nominated from within the ministry by the Chancellor and affirmed by the Senate.
Full service guarantees citizenship in Eirennia Scotia. However, there is no mandatory service in the Eirennia Scotia military. It is a founding principle that a volunteer will work harder, faster, and more efficiently than one who is required to serve. Military Service is the best way to serve your country and develop into a productive and responsible member of society.
