| ...oh my gym, how i love you. you're clean and open and you let happy smiling people walk all over you. i can skip like a child around your big basketball belly. i climb your imaginary steps that lead no where. i can walk for miles on rotating pavement and never leave anyone behind. gym, i am disappointed that men in spandex are allowed in, but mostly you are there for me... - - - - so, i was working the desk at the gym this morning. i have an announcement. just because i smile and welcome you when you march through our big double doors, pass you a towel when your wet, and point you toward the spa when your lost- - - just because i do these things for you, dear gym member, does not mean i'm flirting with you. recently, i've been having a problem with this. a couple of our regulars have mistaken my friendliness for flirtations and i am stuck now in a terrible position. i hate to be rude, but should i be less friendly so they will get the message? ah, silly patrons, do you see what you've done to me. i'm pacing and worrying. you've made me pace and worry. kindly remember, i'm paid to be nice to you. so any smiles or polite laughs at your gym-humor jokes on my behalf should not be taken as flirtations.
