What is it?
Fish are caught in nets or on hooks for human consumption.

Arguments
Pro
*people need to eat and fish is a necessary part of our diet
*fish are not endangered
*fish cannot feel pain

Anti

*fish can feel pain
*some species are becoming endangered
*many animals; for example, dolphins and swans, die from swallowing hooks, or from becoming entangled in fishing nets

What I think
Any proteins and vitamins found in fish can also be found naturally in vegetable foods or supplements.

Some fish are indeed becoming endangered as a direct result of commercial overfishing, eg. cod.

"If you wouldn't do this to a dog, why do it to a fish?" says P.E.T.A. And they're quite right. Humans are very hypocritical in many respects. We turn a blind eye to a fish on the end of a hook, but how many people would object to seeing a dog being pulled along by its mouth? It has been proven that fish can feel stressed and are capable of feeling pain, although they cannot express it in a way that we recognise, so why is it acceptable to kill them?
