Supporting our Local Musicians

The country village halls are likely to see greater useage if the ‘Bush Hall Dance link’ has anything to do with it.
‘Bush Hall Dance link’ Co
ordinator Fi Sproule is organizing some of the local talent to perform at village halls, on a monthly basis.
The project has been auspiced by the Murwillumbah Music Club as a legal way of overcoming the public liability blow out which has led to the cessation of most bush hall dances in the Tweed.
On the 26th September at Chillingham Hall, 5 bands will donate their valuable time and effort to produce the first Bush Hall Dance which will be a fundraiser to establish funds to cover costs for future dances.
“There are many talented and dedicated musicians in the Tweed Valley who need their community to support them in seeking wider recognition of their music” Fi says. The uniqueness of the country village halls, the need for local entertainment

and the desire for exposure by local talent are the ingredients that inspired Fi to embark on this venture.
Fi says “The motivation to spend her time and effort on this project, is to see the local upcoming talent be supported by their communities. They not only get exposure but also with the community support they get financial backing, so that they have their expenses met for performance and equipment”.
‘Bush Hall Dance Link’ has
approached many local businesses for support and donations and we wish to express our deep gratitude for their amazingly huge generosity. Some of these include: Village Imprint, Murwillumbah Fitness Centre, Murwillumbah Music Club, Eagle Boys Pizza, Murwillumbah Disposals, Chantik, ‘New Leaf Cafe, Chillingham Store and Mt Warning Healing Centre.
There is a huge raffle well worth winning drawn on the night.
The first Bush Hall Dance will be on Friday 26th September starting at 6.OOpm at Chillingham Hall, Numinbah Road Chillingham. Scrumptious Food available on the night. Entry is $8.00 single and $15.00 family.
Featuring acts will be My Favorite Colour, He Said. She Said., Forest Jam, 3 Days off and no apparent Reason. SPRING HAS SPRUNG come and dance the night away. For further information contact Fi on

That Skylarky feeling

Nimbin keeps producing quality bands that cover the spectrum of genre, with the success of bands like the Durga Babies and The Re-Mains in recent times. Jazz band, Skylarks, are another Nimbin based band that has been playing around the area for about a year now.. The band are Ian Rowe, Shane Manuel, Lisa Yeates and Bob Dooley. They have developed a large following who enjoy the band's strong harmonies and arrangements, vibrant performance and delightful repertoire of jazz standards, latin grooves and swing.I caught them some months ago at Linda Dickens benefit concert at Uki and found them quite refreshing. They have been working in around the Tweed and Brunswick Valley since then. I think they would make an ideal inclusion at a Note for Note night..
