With so many studio quality
microphones on the market, it can be difficult deciding which is the one
for you. The first thing to consider when purchasing a condenser microphone
is what application it needs to cover. These days a microphone needs to
be versatile enough to handle a number of situations like vocals, instruments
or as overheads (percussion, cymbals etc). |
Learning to position the C01 can
result in dramatic EQ changes and setting up a good vocal or instrument level
won’t be a problem with the C01. However, like everything, getting the
best out of your microphone comes with time and experience to achieve the optimum
results. As a first microphone or something to backup your existing studio mic,
the C01 is a great option. It sounds good, built well and won’t break
the bank to get yourself
started. C01 can be mounted to a standard microphone stand using the included
swivel mount adaptor. If you need additional isolation, the C01 can be fitted
with the after market SP01 Spider shock mount. It comes with its own carry case
and at $199.00 for the C01 and $69.00 for the additional shock mount; it has
to be the best value condenser on the marketatthepresent.
I compared the Samson to other uni directional microphones costing hundreds
more and the result was enough to suggest that the Samson C01 could hold its
own. For those that are starting out in the world of home recording, the Samson
C01 is a great microphone to start with. It is versatile and works very well
in the studio environment and has got to be the best value for money product
going. I would strongly recommend that you check out this product and compare
it yourself to what is out there.
For further info you can contact Murwillumbah Music or visit the website www.samsontech.com
and see what all the fuss is about. At this price, I would imagine that a lot
of retail stores will be stocking up on these soon so a visit to your local
dealer would be a wise move as well.

Linda Dickens Benefit Night Sat March 1st 2003 – Uki Sports Club
The night descends and the preparations
which have taken all afternoon are finally all in place. The weather is very
muggy and although the surrounding Sports Field is water logged, you almost
prayed it would rain again.
Many gave their time and talent including SES volunteers in
aid of a marvelous event which was about to occur. The food, bar and refreshment
staff as well as those selling tickets and those drawing and announcing the
prizes deserve a mention for an exceptional job. Admission at the gate was by
gold coin donation.
On the entertainment side the Railroaders started proceedings featuring popular
faces from bands such as Fish Headz and Toe Sucking
Cowgirls. Following next were Skylarks whose unique
blend of pop jazz had everyone tapping along.
Hells Bells were up after a short break and featured on drums
‘woman of the evening’ Linda Dickens. They played
their ‘Rolling Stone’s’ like songs to a very appreciative
crowd. Linda’s drumming was right on cue loose in all the right places,
like Charlie Watts but also gave the skins a good thump when required. Trevor
on bass, John on guitar and Phillipa on keyboards played with many
other acts that night as did other muso’s who’s names escape me
(sorry, especially the guy on slide !). Country Cousins then
gave the crowd a bit of variety with their brand of C&W. Bob Bale
and Co put the crowd through a lesson in boot scootin’ boogie
and some well known favourites.
A short intermission in proceedings brought a lot of raffles to a close with
many prizes being won many of the 250 strong crowd.A nice ounce of sinsimilla
buds was auctioned off and best wishes to ticket number 8, who should get a
kick out of that one.
Amanda Bell fresh from a bout of hospitalitis kept everyone
entertained for a spell with her original songs & finally to wrap up the
evening came Cartwright & Co. Their music reminded me of
Style Council mixed with disco hip hop & kept those in the mood for dancing
pinned to the dance floor until the end.
A thoroughly enjoyable night with all proceeds going towards helping Linda and
her battle with illness. But from watching her perform you would not even know
she was anything but 100%. Keep plugging away Linda our thoughts are with you.
Late Press is that almost $5,000.00 was raised. Hats off to all concerned. -
