In 1863 Isaac and two of his sons, 16 year old Burrus and Augustus joined the Confederate Army March 10, 1863 at Hall County, Georgia. Augustus was killed in the 40 Day Siege of Atlanta...when the war was over Isaac came home to find that not only was his money useless but his 15 to 20 slaves had been freed. From that point on, he really didn't seem to have much purpose to his life and he just wandered between Texas and Georgia.
Isaac was about two when his family moved from South Carolina to Hall County, Georgia.
