many are listing Richmond as in Henry or Henrico County. Although Henrico County surrounds Richmond on three sides, Richmond is an independent city and is not part of ANY county, nor has it ever been.

Jeff Reece lists John and Jemima Longworth Thornton as the parents of Thomas Thornton, Sr. b. abt 1750 in Lunenburg Co., VA. However I have seen not other sources listing a child of this name in this family so far. This Thomas Thornton Sr. is the father of several children: Josiah F.M. Thornton b. 1779, Mrs. Mordicai Fowler, Mrs. William House, Mark, Martha, William, George, and  Thomas Thornton, Jr. George is supposedly the father of Josiah Thornton that married Louvenia Munday. I think that although this is plausible it is problably stretching it a bit. This will have to researched a bit to make that connection.
