In the Virginia Pension Role of 1835, a report from the U.S. Secretary of War, Samuel is listed as having a pension for military service as a private, a pension which began on June 19, 1820. His annual allowance from the U.S. government was $96.00, and in the fifteen year period, his total amount received was $1, 015. 34. His age in 1835 was 73.

According to Ruth Lindsay, Samuel was a soldier in the Revolutionary War, serving in Capt. William Simm's Company in Col. Green's regiment at Guilford Court House, Camden, Siege of Ninety-Six, and Eutaw Springs. source the History of Albemarle County in Virginia Appendix #4

Wilson Munday must have been the administrator of his father's estate in Virginia. An entry refers to his administration of his father's estate in Will Book 11. page 499, Albemarle County, VA, Deeds, 1823-24, page 3 73.

From the information I have, Samuel Munday's son Reuben was born Abt 1766 & married Anne Dowell (from the same area) in 1791 and they moved to Knox Co., TN. I received the info regarding the move to TN from another researcher. The above Samuel (1) also had a son named Samuel (2) who was born Abt 1761 in Albemarle Co., he had a son named Reuben. He was listed in the will of Samuel (2) which was probated in 1830. I have not found any further information of this Reuben in the Albemarle records and I do not know where he went or who he maried. If you are interested, Samuel (2) was a soldier in the Revolution, he served in Capt. Wm Sim's Company in Col. The Rueben mentioned in Ruth's note would, it seems, be too young to be the Rueben who moved to Georgia. I have not been able to verify the connection to Knox County, TN for this Rueben. There is also a Rueben from the Caroline/Essex County Munday branch that may be the connection to the Rueben in Georgia. More research is needed to prove/disprove a connection. The North Carolina and South Carolina records should be checked for the William Munday who is reportedly the father of Rueben in Georgia.
