Brief Historical Background of the Muntinlupa Science National High School (MSHS) The Divison of City Schools of Muntinlupa, with local government officials, and residents and students jointly initiated a request to the DECS for the establishment of a school which will be responsive to the needs of the mentally gifted students of the city. After the DECS approved the request in April 15, 1998, a Selection Admission Test was administered to 126 students applicants on April 26. There were 72 students who passed and made the first batch to graduate from this school. The mission of the school is to provide qualified youths of Muntinlupa City relevant and high quality public secondary education that will prepare them for careers in Science and Technology, Mathematics and Communication Arts. This March 2002, it has been renamed to the Muntinlupa Science High School. MSHS is located at Buendia Street, Tunasan. Its lot area is 5,000 meteres. As of SY 2002-2003, the teacher-student ratio was 1:30 (Information Hand-out, 2002). |
