| New had reached England of the Archeological findings of Mr. & Miss Carnahan and a Mr. O'Connell. Everyone in the field of Ancient Egypt wanted to know about the findings and wanted to go to the city that had been found for further examination. However, things were kept very disguised. Meela had been behind in the new because she was too caught up in her dreams and visions. "Meela, you must go to the storage and catalogue the new artifacts," said the impatient curator to the girl he considered was always in the moon. "New artifacts? Mr. Hafez what new artifacts are you talking about? If they are the ones from South America, I have already catalogued those." " No girl, where have you been this last week? We have received a new shipment from Egypt. It seems that they have found Hamunaptra," with the mention of the name of that city Meela's eyes widened. "Hamunaptra, I thought that was a myth." "Well, the myth seems to have been no myth at all, three people found the city. Many atrocities took place in Egypt while the city was coming to the surface. Have you not been reading the papers?" "I...well...no," said she a little embarrassed about her lack to knowledge on this recent occurrences. "Now, get to work. We have no time to be wasting," said he a little impatient about her lack information. "I will get to it, sir." As Meela left her thought wondered to Egypt. "Oh, how she missed her city." She had to find out everything that had happened and that was happening. After her rough day at work, she began gathering all the newspapers that she could at the museum. She was shocked at what she saw in the papers. There was a picture in one of the papers in it was the girl from her dreams, and a man. Sure, she looked a little different and modern, but it was her. "How could she have been dreaming about her, if she had never met her," thought Meela. As she read the paper, it said that the girl's name was Evelyn Carnahan and the other two individual's who accompanied her on the dig were her brother Jonathan Carnahan and Rick O'Connell. But the picture, which Meela saw only, figured two individuals. The papers talked little about them. It only briefly mentioned the Carnahan's being part of a line of Archeologists. Of the other young man not too much was known. Most of the papers that Meela read contained information, except for one that originated from Egypt, which contained more information of the third companion, Rick O'Connell. In it Meela realized that he was the man who had survived the Med-jais' confrontation that day that her love was killed. "It is him, he killed my love," tears filled her eyes as she remembered Mohammed and her lack of action towards revenging his death. She began to compose herself and started thinking of how to avenge Mohammed's death. She had heard that the O'Connell and the Carnahan woman, who was now his wife, were returning to England. "Perfect," thought Meela. The next day, Meela woke up bright and early to go to the museum to finish cataloging the artifacts that had arrived from Egypt. She was still plotting how to avenge her lover's death, but those dreams still clouded her mind. She put her jacket and purse on her desk and when she was composing herself something caught her eyes. It was a triple speared golden dagger. She walked over to it and lightly caressed the object. Then her mind went back to ancient Egypt... Two women, dressed in gold with their faces masked danced in a deadly dance with the golden tridents. The sweat glistened in the day's sunlight as they lunged at each other with the same thought of victory on their minds. A man walked in the room. They each glanced at him. Without thinking one of the women caught the other off guard ending the battle. They slipped away their masks to reveal the woman that Meela had dreamt about so many nights before. The girl got up from the floor, trying to catch of breath and giving Meela a cold look; with this she turned to walk out of the room. Meela turned to see the man who had walked in during the battle. It was the man who looked like Mohammed, Imhotep. He walked up to the woman and gave her a kiss to congratulate her on the victory. He hugged her and said the name Anck-su-namun. "Imhotep, Imhotep, Imhotep..." "Meela, girl, what is the matter?" said Mr. Hafez trying to shake Meela out of her trance. She was on the floor holding the trident and repeating the name Imhotep. "Mr. Hafez, what are you doing to me?" asked Meela when she realized he was shaking her. "You were rambling and speaking a language, that I could only call ancient Egyptian." "What?" asked Meela surprised. "Yes, Meela and you were also speaking the name Imhotep," said Mr. Hafez letting go of her. "Have you heard the name Anck-su-namun?" Meela froze at the sound of that name. It was the one she had been called in her dreams. She was unable to respond to his question. "How could she," she thought, "he will think me crazy if I tell him of what has been happening to me." "Meela, my girl, you have not answered my question. Have you heard the name Anck-su-namun?" Meela took a few seconds and deep breath before responding. "Yes, I have. I think that I have read about her in books." "You do not understand my question. Let me explain. When I walked in you were in an odd trance unable to hear me shout your name. You were speaking ancient Egyptian, which is a language that only a few scholars know, and pronouncing the name of Imhotep. And from what I understand you were in some sort of a fight. Now I will ask you again, you know you can trust me, have you heard of Anck-su-namun?" "Yes, I have she has been in my dreams these past months. I feel everything she if feeling in the dreams. It all feels so real, as if I am there. And the man..." "Imhotep?" asked Mr. Hafez. "Yes, he is my...I mean he looks like someone I knew and loved very much." Meela's eyes filled with tears as she told Mr. Hafez of Mohammed. By the end of the week Mr. Hafez knew the complete story. He knew now how useful his assistant would be to him and his people. At firs he did not know how to use all this information, therefore he concluded that he must inform the Red-jais. They were a tribe who had formed from the descendant's of Imhotep's priests. For thousands of years they had wanted to bring Imhotep back from the dead to gain the power that had been stripped from them by the Med-jais. Mr. Hafez was part of the Red-jais and a devoted follower at that. His leaders informed him that for the moment all they could do is to wait and gather more information from the girl. Mr. Hafez also found out of Meela's hate for the O'Connells and also of her plan for revenge against the husband. He gathered that the girl was a bit impulsive, causing her to get foolish and to lose sight of the important aspects of things. He began to persuade her to forget of the foolish plan because it could cause them a great deal. Meela agreed to leave her revenge for later because Hafez had promised her a sweeter revenge for her Mohammed with the rise and power of Imhotep. |
