I AM GETTING A LOGIN SESSION EXPIRED BOX WHENEVER I TRY TO PM SOMEONE. WAS I BOOTED?
Annoying,
isn't it? You are about to PM your buddy then all of a sudden, you get a
login session expired dialog box.
So, what happened? Don't worry, you were NOT booted. Nothing is
wrong with your Messenger and there is no need to reinstall the program.
It's Yahoo's servers having some technical problems.
So... what's the solution? First, do this quick fix from topper52722: try PMing OUTSIDE the chatroom. Close the chat window, re-login if necessary and PM your buddy. Once you get that working, enter the chatroom and proceed from there. Also, deleting the cache and resetting cookies also helps.
If it doesn't work, here's another one possible way to get rid of it.
First
of all, you must maintain at least two Yahoo! accounts. You use the
current one as your main ID whenever you chat, and the other one for
backup. If you only have one account, you have to sign up again and
create another one. Note that this is NOT the same as an alias.
There is a BIG difference. An alias is just an alternate ID of your
main account. This procedure will not work if you use your other
aliases instead of the separate account. Important: Pay attention
to this first step... some users come back in the chat room saying that the
whole procedure didn't work and they are still being booted in PM.
Later I find out that they mistake an alias for a different Yahoo account.
If
you are not using invisible mode, change to invisible mode now.
Why? If you use invisible mode and your buddy sees that your status is
showing online,
then that's the clue that you are going to have problems with PMs.
Log
out of Messenger and log-in again using your other account. Take note
that you must log-in under invisible
mode, so remember to place a check mark beside that option in the log-in
dialog box.
Once
logged in, send a test PM to your own ID (not your main id, but the id you
are currently logged into). This time, you shouldn't get
that session expired dialog box. Instead, you will see your own PM
displayed in the PM box.
Log out of Messenger and re-login again using your main account. Again, don't forget to use invisible mode, then try sending a PM to one of your buddies. It should work this time.
Important...
Note that I mentioned above that this is ONE POSSIBLE WAY to get
rid of the login session expired problem. I'm not claiming that this is
the only solution. For some it works, for others, it doesn't... but at
least one possible solution is better than no solution at all, right? ![]()
Both me and a friend of mine (itchy_1uk) were having this problem, and we tried doing this experiment. It worked for us, so hopefully, it will work for you too.
Kudos to itchy_1uk for his invaluable help in solving this problem.
