  Teaching this course since Spring 2006. This course is offered at the ITDS dept. of the College of Business Administration (COBA), University of Texas, Denton, Texas, USA. All COBA students are required to take this course as a partial fulfillment of their undergraduate degree.

Description: Collection, description and analysis of numerical data. Data presentation, tables, charts and graphs, descriptive statistics, analysis of time series and index numbers, sampling techniques and distributions, estimation, confidence intervals, with applications in quality control and productivity.

This course requires students to use statistical software - namely, MS Excel - to conduct statistical analyses. The use of Excel provides students with insights into real world statistical problems. In addition, students are also required to use an online statistical system called the Hawkes Learning Systems Business Statistics to complete online quizzes and tests.

This course involves extensive use of cases and spreadsheets. It uses Excel and SPSS to conduct statistical analyses.
