Our goal is to provide a peaceful and enjoyable playing atmosphere for clans and individuals who wish to play with others in an enjoyable format. What this means, is in rescent history, Wizards of the Coast (tm), Magic: The Gathering (tm), has created multiple sets which are "broken" and carry several cards which players feel are unacceptable to play in a casual enviroment.
Since pleas from players have been unheeded, and those cards are still not banned or restricted, or a suitable option for Online Play to remove the use of Fifth Dawn and CHK, the UCA is taking their own steps in how to combat these issues.
What this means and how it might effect you. Those players who want to get back to the "roots" of magic, do not want to play with the snot nosed little brats who think Tooth and Nail or Kokusho are the greatest thing since sliced bread. That is where we, the UCA come in.
Players who solely play "cheese" in attempts to win remove the enjoyment of the game for others. Also Poor Sports who refuse to play any further also begin to remove the enjoyment. So the UCA has formed a system to combat and deal with these issues.
THE UCA BLOCK LIST. Now I know, this seems very harsh and cruel to ostercise other players simply for the cards they play, or how they play. But is it? Well lets take a few moments to look at the facts and find out.
How often do you enjoy a game where someone cheese's a win on turn 6 or 7 over 5 people? Sure, it might be fun, might take 30 minutes to get to that point. But do you feel satisfied having a few lands out and maybe getting 3 or 4 spells out before dying? No.
You can give me 1000 excuses if the card was made it was made to play. Well sure, it was made to play. But not in the casual enviroment. Everyone knows playing Land Destruction, Mass Theft, Mass Cheese will get them blocked and very fast by alot of players.
What we are offering to you, the player who is sick of all of those players who just absolutely piss you off and make you mad is this. A group of people who have the same standards. People who are here just to relax and enjoy a couple of games where everyone is having fun.
How it all will work?
Well thats up to you and your clan. By joining the UCA you agree that members of your clan in Casual Enviroments (Casual Room, All Sub Rooms including Multiplayer) will not violate the standards upheld by the UCA. In turn, you will be given the great rewards of other players outside of your immediate clan who wish to play in the same style as your clan.
But what does it all mean?
Well, what this means, once the UCA has established enough ground in MTGO(tm), Clan Tournaments will take place to establish the best UCA Clans in Multiplayer FFA, Multiplayer Two-Headed Giant, Multiplayer Three-Headed Giant, Multiplayer 2 vs 2 and 3 vs 3.
A constant room would be activated specifically for the UCA which all members of affiliated clans are welcome to use to arrange CASUAL trades amungst UCA members, arrange a game, or just chat.
Also, and on a grim note. There is the UCA Block List. A list compiled of players who violate the standards which the UCA holds in the highest respect. It is a way of informing other players that there is an issue reguarding certain players and certain entire clans. Choice of a clan to literally add those people to their block list is entirely optional.
The list will be updated on a daily basis for everyone in the UCA. Clan Leaders are encouraged to have their own specific clan's Block List for the UCA and we will publish it on the website for your clan and others if you like. The advantage of this, is to allow everyone to see who is being a rather large pain on a normal basis and if enough clans complain about a specific person, then they will be added to the General UCA Block List.
