Irony of the AvatarsThe Avatars have been a big subject in the Magic community recently. Some say that they're okay, others think that they're a waste of paper. But have anyone ever thought of how ironic the Avatars are? What do I mean you say? Well, take Avatar of Fury for example. It reads "If your opponent has 7 lands or more, Avatar of Fury cost 6 less to play." That goes against red entirely. Red has been known for its land destruction decks. Now in order to have enough mana to cast this, your opponent needs to have 7 lands. Obviously this card is not going into land destruction decks. This pattern gets worst. Avatar of Might also follow this trend. It reads "If an opponent has 4 or more creatures than you, Avatar of Might cost 6 less to play." Green is known for over running your opponent with creatures. So why would your opponent have more creatures than you? Not very pratical in a green deck. This Avatar isn't all bad. It is green so you might be able to pay for the full mana cost. This one is the worst of them all. Avatar of Hope is a disgrace to white. ou need to be at 3 life or less in order to cast it for 6 less. White is, while it is not practiced a lot, a life gaining color. White prides itself on protection and defense. This card is totally impratical. What are the chances that you'll be at 3 life or less anyway? I don't think anyone in their right mind will play this card. There are some exception to this pattern. Avatar of Woe and Avatar of Will don't follow this pattern. THANK GOD. If they all followed this pattern I don't know what will happen. Yeah I know I'm over exaggerating it. There you have it, pretty ironic huh? It's been a interesting article. I'm not saying that these cards suck or anything. I'm just pointing out how ironic they are. |
