Nemesis: Green Analysis

Written on 4/12/00

Green, of course, introduces some new powerful creatures. Some creatures allow you to get three more of itself, while others are huge creatures with fading on them.

Rhox is a great creature. For six mana, you get a 5/5 regenerable creature. The best part is the fact that it's almost unblockable!! Hey a 5/5 regenerable, unblockable creature is my kind of creature. Put 4 of these in your deck and it could be devasting for your opponent.

There are also some creature with fading in this set. Blastoderm is a 5/5 for 4 mana with a fading of 3. Cast it out on the third turn and you have a huge creature to torture your opponent with. Plus it can't be the target of spells or abilities. That means no Dark Banishing, Terror, or Pacifism can touch it. Skyshroud Behemoth is another huge fading creature. When I mean huge, I mean HUGE. Is a 10/10 big enough for you? This creature has a fading of 2 with a casting cost of 7. Slap on a Rancor and watch the sparks fly as your 10/10 turns into a 12/10 trampler!!! Skyshroud Ridgeback is another cheap fader. Pay 1 mana and you get a 2/3 for two turns. This is a great first turn creature.

Something new was also introduced in Nemesis. Now certain creatures allow you to get 3 more of itself from your library. Nestling Wurm is a creature with this ability. Nestling Wurm cost 6 mana for a 4/3 trampler. A 4/3 trampler is pretty big so this creature can cause some serious trouble for your opponent. If you play 4 of these, it could be the end for your opponent. The less powerful one is the Skyshroud Sentinel. This one cost 3 mana for a puny 1/1. Not a good deal if you ask me. Pack Hunt is a sorcery that helps you get three copies of target creature from your library. This may sound good but it takes four mana to cast it, making it too costy.
