* Killer 3 Trail Loop* Single Track Tech Root Section
|
This was a challenging descent across some nasty tree roots. Add just a little bit of drizzle, and you feel this slippery fear beneath your wheels.
This is steeper than it looks, and it starts way up there past that little tree leaning on the trail.
Biking in areas like this, it's best just to feather your brakes and pick a fall line right down the middle. Needless to say, you want to stand on your pedals for this.
The blue paint circles on the trunks are the trail blazes to identify the track in case you wander.

* Killer 3 Trail Loop* Meadow Crossing
|
There were 2 very long meadow crossings on this trail loop. The meadows were where they previously clear-cut logged, burnt the underbrush, and replanted straw grass and new pine trees.
This is the opening to the section just before the descent with the tree roots pictured above. Good thing we stopped or we would have flown right into the roots.
Now it's only the 2nd day and the 2 of them, up ahead, are raring to go and wondering why I'm taking so many pictures. Well, somebody has to!

* Killer 3 Trail Loop * Sand Dune Victim
|
Joanne's first spill. Nothing like blasting into a rut of loose sand that stops you dead in your tracks unless you pedal hard. And of course that 2 foot deep rut isn't as wide as your pedals! What's a girl to do? Note Marc is smiling!

* Killer 3 Trail Loop* Take A Break
|
OK, a nerdy picture of me in my street clothes. I didn't have my biking gear on that day. I do need a new wardrobe?
This was a great trail section. Very flat and fast. The sand on the trail is a little loose but very thin and predictable.
One thing about Killer 3 Loop is variety. The trail has several distinctly different sections mixing between forest and meadow, changing the riding styles and scenery several times.
