* Headwaters Trail * Break Time
|
Greg was a willing trailguide and cycling buddy for most of the afternoon. It's always fun to hook-up with a fellow rider. Because Greg lives nearby, attending MacMaster University as a grad student, I was able to learn a few "local secrets".

* Headwaters Trail * Wide Single Track Tech Section
|
Along this trail, there are several small tech sections of root climbs and descents. Many of the hills lead to blind corners keeping the long ride challenging and interesting even for seasoned riders. Here, there's a 90 degree turn just ahead.

* Headwaters Trail * Double Track
|
This is a typical section of double track trail in Dundas Valley. The 4 major arterial trails are roughly the same width, and are suitable for 2-way traffic of hikers, runners, horses and bikers. Most spur trails are single track
As you can see, there's enough debris on the trail to keep your speed down. The rocks and roots were trickier than I thought. I almost crashed the bike here.
This was a perfect Spring day. No bugs, brilliant sunshine and about 17 degrees. Doesn't get any better than this.

* Lookout Trail * Single Track Monster Climb
|
Starting from Headwaters Trail, Lookout Trail (as the name implies) climbs the escarpment valley up to Lookout Point.
The hills are not all that severe, but you keep on climbing all the way. Eventually leg fatigue will set in and you'll probably walk the rest of the way.
Up top, there's a park bench with a panoramic view of the valley. Of course, the ride down the other end of the trail is more fun. Watch your speed.!! After the quick downhill, Lookout Trail reconnects with the Headwaters Trail again.
