On their leader day, each child is invited to bring an item from home to share with their friends and TELL about at circle time. It is very popular with all the children and is a way of connecting what children learn at home to their school and friends. It is also a great time for the child to work on his/her public speaking skills and it is a very positive experience for the child who is learning self-control and gaining self-confidence, and for the children who are listening to learn patience and respect for their classmates.

Selecting a "good" show and tell item is often a little difficult for some of our younger children. We encourage children to bring an educational item that pertains to what the classroom is studying and that is of interest to all (i.e. nature and science objects, books, newspaper articles or pictures, etc.). If your child is keen to bring something in, please help him or her with the aspect of telling something about their item why it is special, where they got it, etc. The child will be invited to TELL his friends about the item and will then take a few questions. The child can also decide if the item is to be looked at, or touched. This decision is one that empowers the child and fosters a strong sense of responsibility in caring for precious or delicate items.
Show-n-Tell is always voluntary and is limited to ONE item.

We discourage bringing in toys as they tend to turn the Show-n-Tell into a "look-what-I've-got-that-you-haven't" session that can be upsetting to some children. Please feel free to check with us with any questions.
