Each child has a special day assigned when he/she will be the Leader of the Classroom. The intention of this day is to give the child an opportunity to develop their leadership skills and their awareness of responsibility. Here are some of the tasks that they will enjoy that day:

- Ring the bell and give messages

- Bring the counting jars to circle

- Share a
Show-n-Tell

- Feed the fish or other classroom pets

- Lead the classroom to/from outdoor play areas

- Remind friends of the rules of the playground

- Bring and set-up snack for the classroom

- Lead in other miscellaneous activities that might occur in relation to unit studies or other events that are scheduled for that day.

Your childs leader day is also a great opportunity for thoughtful discussion and interaction with you child, i.e. what snack to bring in? What item to tell about to his or her friends?
You can place the leader day calendar somewhere easily accessible by your child (i.e. on the refrigerators door). He will enjoy knowing that his/her leader day is coming up and might be very curious to find out on a daily basis who is the leader of that day.
