Meeting August 16, 2007 Minutes
1. Thank you to Brian and Patty Balmes for donating 2 tents (large) to the SU as well as DVD's. The DVD was made by their troop for their Bronze Award, and are all about getting started on camping.
The tents will be kept at Becky Geisels’ and can be check out. Just let her know ahead of time and she will put them out. Denise has the DVD and they can be check out from me.
2. Troop Organizational Meetings:
A. CCE Friday, August 24, 7pm with Buzz up August 22, 8am
B. SHE Thursday, August 23 6:30pm
Thanks to all who volunteered to help out. We are still in need of Mentors who can help new troops get going. Let denise know.
3. New Leader Brunch: Wednesday, September 12 10a-12n at denise's (see invitation) If you can come and give feedback to New Leaders let denise know.
4. Please e-mail [email protected] for any changes in the roster information so that we can update the roster. When it is complete it will be posted on the Web Site.

6. MSU goals for Membership is 395, let Diana Moll (CCE) or Gina Schwendel (SHE) if you need help placing girls.
7. Annual Fund (was Family Partnership): Goal this year is $10,336. So PLEASE let your families know the importance of donating. Donation go to Debbie Webb who is our Annual Fund Chair. These are due on October 12. We will of course keep collecting but this is the first due date.
8. Registrations: PLEASE get done ASAP so that we can get our troops organized. If you need help with paperwork contact Debbie Webb she is the Registrar. All need to be in by October. (Debbie-s info: 1280 Briars Creek Dr, 678-366-1451 [email protected]
9. Community Involvement- Gina Schwendel.
A. This year we want the SU to participate in two community wide activities. The First is River's Alive (see flyer on web) and will be on Saturday, October 27 . Contact Becky Geisel who is heading this up if you plan on attending and if there is a specific thing you would like to do. We will do something else in the Spring.
B. Presidential Award-see web site for flyer . We would like as many as possible girls and leaders to apply for this Award. It is simple to do on their Website. Contact Gina for questions.
C. Chick-Fil-A-the SU will sponsor 2 nights to eat and the SU will benefit from this. The First will be the Monday, October 29 and then one in the Spring during GS week.
D. Adopt A Platoon-please let Gina know if your troop would like to adopt one. She will get you all the information. In addition we will collect items for them monthly at the SU meetings.
E. Monthly Community Service. Gina will set up a schedule for troops to help at either a Nursing Home or NFCC. There will be a monthly opportunity to be involved.
10. SU Events-calendar for the year is available (see website).All Events have a contact person who will "run" the event. So plan now to attend them. Some of the dates/venue are pending but we will keep you posted. If you want to "run" an event besides those please be aware of other events scheduled. Let denise know so you get the paperwork needed to have done to sponsor an activity. This year the SU will collect a 10% "taxation" on money making events. You are allowed to make up to $3/GS (not parents) on events. So if overall you Gross $300 send a check to MSU for $30. This way the SU will have funding for Leader Activities.
11. Adult Recognitions-Carol Northern
Please give her all training done. Also it is easy to earn/apply for your Leadership Development Pin. So let's see if we can all get them!!

12. CPR/First Aid
A. There were 2 classes over the summer that were well attended. There will be another class offered on Saturday, September 22 , 9a-2p with Tracy Lynn Wagner. This will be for new leaders and then if there are spots still open others may attend.
B. We will also post on the web site a list of supplies that you should have in your First Aid Kit.
C. If you want to use the authorization to give medications to have with you and your troop, or especially if you are going camping. It will be posted on the Web. It is a good idea to have on each girl incase there needs to be medications given
13. Calendar sales:
A. Robin Innacone will collect all and go to Counsel to pick up. They are due by the October SU mtg(October 11). The calendars this year are from National not our counsel. I have a copy of them to see before ordering.

15. Flag Ceremonies
A. Troops sign up to do the Flag Ceremony at the beginning of the SU meetings. We still need troops for: September 13, October 11, and February 14. Let denise know if your troop can participate. |
