BPAC Airfreight
had been my employer for over 20 years. When I finally convinced the owner (I
was general manager) that computers were necessary, he (he is in his 80's) told
me I could install them but they were my 'baby'. I took this quite literally
when I installed our machines. Later I networked them, trained my staff to use
the system and supported the entire system. We started off with Windows 95 and
concluded with a Network operating on NT 4.0. The training to fulfill the
position of system engineer was by self-study and attending classes as well as
hands on. My position required me to manage the company and be tech support for
10 people.
Once BPAC closed
(owner's retired due to health), I started doing contractual jobs. One such
assignment took me to Northrop Grumman, where I was technical assistant to Laura Reich. She is technical lead
for the F-14 program. They also used my financial skills in a budget project.
We supported a staff of about 80 users. There were IBM and MAC platforms as
well as CAD drafting machines. The server was NT 4.0. This was a 6-month
contract to assist in the Window 2000 upgrade and other transitions. It lasted
7 months and even though the desire was there for me to remain, as well as the
need, the budget did not allow for it. The F-14 program is now obsolete.
Verizon Business DSL division in Reston contracted as the Morning Call Administrator. This
means that each and every morning ALL the help desks (NOC, PCC, Dedicated, DSL, Bulk dial, etc.) report to my
department through a conference call. We openly discussed all pertinent issues
to resolve the problems at hand. It was our intention to prevent recurrences by
grouping events that were similar and further investigating the ‘how's and
why's’. After I compiled this data, it was then posted to our web site. This
web site was mine to upgrade, maintain, develop, edit, post and enhance. HTML
has been my tool of choice for over eight years when building web sites. Today
there are many other choices available and with this contract I was able to
take courses in Java Scripting, Oracle 8, SQL and Visual Basic.
My contract here was to smooth the roll out
of the Morning Call Site. This was achieved by developing the site; setting-up
the ongoing posting through extensive Excel spreadsheets; building PowerPoint
Presentations for online display to show our progress and goals; the set-up,
launching, training,
developing, monitoring, and co-building of our White Board tracking system to
work with Remedy, Oasis, Shield and proprietary help desk ticketing systems; as
well as writing the user guides;
training personal on the usage of the Morning Call Web Site and assigning pass
codes for access.
Various other contract positions have allowed
me to do system moves, upgrades, new installs and more.
My web design skills have allowed me to build
many sites for personal use as well as for clients. You can view many of them
through the links on the site listed below. The sites of White Dove Art,
Quantum Enterprises, BPAC and Jethro's Fancy Sticks, as well as my own resume
site are examples of my work. References and skill breakdown lists are available by following the links on my personal
web site: http://www.geocities.com/mskokopellimd/resume.html or by clicking on the hyper-links if viewing on line.
Not only am I interested in long term,
contractual and permanent work; I accept short-term (weekend/holiday type) assignments like the system move and migration over the Thanksgiving weekend of 2000.
Feel free to contact me with any other questions, opportunities or concerns. I will be happy to discuss my availability with you.
I can be very flexible in travel area. In
fact, I would even be interested in a job that is 75% travel.
Thank you for your time and interest. I look
forward to hearing from you. Should there not be a suitable opening in the
present, please retain my information for future reference.
