What do 10,687 runners of the 2009 Gate River Run have in common? Thats right 10 thousand plus.

They all helped me to raise money for

The Katie Caples Foundation.

The plan this year, 2009, was like last year and the year before,2008 and 2007, to start the Gate River Run (National 15k Championship road race) last and get several corporate sponsors to donate $0.15 for every participant I passed. This year we did get a corporate sponsor, The Shouvlin Foundation, whom donated the $.10 per runner I passed.

It was short and sweet. I ran faster even though there were more runners. Total time on the clock was 1 hour 20 minutes and 57 seconds. That was with a 11 minute 25 second delay, when I had to wait for all 13,000 runners to cross the starting line. My actual running time was 1 hour 9 minutes and 32 seconds, with weaving in and out of all 10,687 plus runners I passed.

Even thought the race was short the monetary gain for the Katie Caples Foundation should really help. Thank you to all runners who raced that day. Feel good, that you earned money for a deserving local charity if I passed you.
