DOMAIN IV-FULFILLING PROFESSIONAL ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The teacher enhances professional knowledge and skills by effectively
interacting with other members of the educational community and participating
in various types of professional activities.
Defense
My goal is to be a life long learner. I received my Bachelor of
Science in neuroscience and then made the decision that my bachelors degree
was not enough. After about a year of hard work, I received my master
of education in curriculum and instruction. Of course, if you are reading
this then you know that I am still in class learning. I came back to
finish my certification, but I don’t plan on stopping here. In the
future I will be going back to school to work on my Ph.D. in Education and
also in Clinical Psychology.
In addition to continuing my education, I also have attended several workshops
to continue my education and professional development. I have been
to a workshop on Howard Gardner’s whole brain learning, an ARK workshop,
classroom management workshops, and TAKS training. Learning does not
stop for me because I am teaching, but it just means that I need to learn
how to do my job better. I appreciate the people I work around and
I value their input, because quite often their experiences can help me to
grow as an educator.
It is also a pleasure to have been able to join our online educational community.
By reading and responding to colleagues, I have learned a great deal about
other view and other ways to do things in my classroom. Besides
this class, I have decided to join a teachers’ union and begin to receive
several magazines for my field. I have enjoyed my time with everyone
and I know that I will continue my learning and my active participation in
the educational community.
