Here is a copy of the original Aeronca sales brochure for the 1948 model year... the sales were very slow and the boom of the post-war years was gone, but they still tried to keep the production line going. This would just about be the end of the line for the Chief.. the Champ and Sedan would keep going until 1951. Then the Champ/Chief Type Certificate was sold and Aeronca was out of the light airplane business, going into aerospace sub-contracting (aerospace if they were lucky to get the contract!) |
