Introduction
Welcome to sophomore religion.  This class is a course in Roman Catholic theology that will cover the Christian Scriptures (New Testament), and the Sacraments of the Roman Catholic Church.  Various topics will also be covered such as the Saints, Catholic Liturgy, and the implication of Jesus' message in today's world
Primary Objectives
The primary objectives of the course are
1.) to help you become familiar with the Christian Scriptures (the Gospels, Saint Paul's letters, the Catholic Epistles and the Book of Revelation); 2.) to gain a better sense of who Jesus of Nazareth is, what life was like when and where he lived, and how he has come to be known as Jesus the Christ who redeemed the world; 3.) to connect the scriptures and the identity of Jesus with Roman Catholic sacraments and liturgy; 4.) to touch upon the life of the early Church and the men and women throughout history who have been inspired to live (and even die) for their faith in Jesus Christ and his call to bring forth the Kingdom of God; and 5.) to discover why Jesus' life, message, death and resurrection have any meaning for us in our time and what that implies about how we must live our lives.
