About Mountanieer

Home

Climbing is a way of expressing the inner self, a way of discovering one's strengths and limits and reaching new heights inside one's mind. It's not the mountain out there that we, the mountaineers, try to climb, but it's the mountain inside us. That's what make mountaineering and climbing the greatest and the most noble sport among all.

I started mountaineering when I was in my engineering college with Jadavpur University Mountaineering Club. Later, I founded a club, called Junipers, with some of my mountaineer friends. With them, I have climbed extensively in the Himalayas - the first ascent of Gorur dome (6204 m) in 1998 and the first ascent of the hostile east face of Manda 2(6568 m) were the highlights of my mountaineering career so far.

Other than that, I have climbed in many crags and cliffs in India, Europe and USA. Sometimes, I love to explore the mountains and nature through simply hiking and camping. I write about my exciting and thrilling experiences in those spectacular and hostile world and have published some of those accounts in journals and magazines.

For more details about my expeditions, go to the Junipers web site.
