Information for MQ Leaders
Mary Queen of the Holy Rosary Parish is our troop sponsor.

The parish provides:

Meeting space
Scout Closet
Copying at the rectory
Cookie booth space after Mass for two weekends in March
Newsletter space in the parish newsletter

Meeting Space

Fran, the parish secretary, keeps track of all parish activities on her BIG calendar.  Each August, the various parish organizations and groups meet at a Roundtable meeting and carve out the space.  Some sudden changes always arise, however, so each leader needs to keep a heads up for special meetings, rehearsals, etc.

Mr. S. unlocks doors for parish functions after school hours and then locks the doors when the function ends.  This way, you dont need to be responsible for a key or for locking up. You establish what time your meeting starts and what time you would like the door unlocked.  For example, for a 6:30 PM meeting, you may request the door be unlocked at 6:15 PM to give you time to set up.

It is VERY important that you call Fran  at the rectory 278-7432 to let her know you wont be at your meeting, for example, if youre on a field trip or meeting somewhere else.  Otherwise, Mr. S. shows up, but no one is there this greatly distresses him!!!!  Fran works from 9 AM till 3 PM, so you need to call in that time frame if possible and as soon as you know you will not be meeting at MQ.  There is an answering machine for after hours call do leave a message for Fran!

Scout Closet

The Girl Scout closet is located in the cafeteria.  It is on the longer wall adjoining the gym, in the last closet on the left as you are looking at the wall.  The closet has an American flag, a MQ GS flag, and a Brownie flag.  There are three flag stands for the flags. There are some craft supplies and camping supplies.  See the Girl Scout coordinator for a key to the closet.

Copying at the rectory

You may use the copy machine at the rectory while its open (9 AM to 3 PM).   Let Fran know you are making copies for Girl Scouts, and if you need first-time instructions, just ask her nicely at her earliest convenience to show you how to operate the copy machine.

Cookie booth space after Mass

Girl Scout troops sell cookies after each Mass over the first two weekends in March.  The booth times are divided up at the December leaders meeting.  If you are NOT using your booth space, let the GS coordinator know.  A lot of people expect cookies at each Mass, so if youre not selling, well let another troop sell to meet demand!!

Newsletter Space

We try to have a page of MQ Girl Scout news in each parish newsletter, which is published September through June.  Each troop takes a turn gathering news from each troop and compiling the page of news.  News assignments are made at the August leaders meeting.  A leader will call you or e-mail you to ask what sort of things your troop has done in the past month (or is planning).  Please add your contribution to the news page!
