Extraordinary, Chapter 2

Kanai�s green eyes widened as her utter shock took complete control of her. The fear that struck her, left her motionless; she could barely utter a sound let alone a scream. In the midst of her fear, she closed her eyes hoping that when she opened them the threat would be gone. She knew this wasn�t so, when she felt someone move behind her and slip their other hand around her waist. She opened her eyes, as the young man lifted her up and off the floor, with no effort whatsoever, and took her away from the door letting his companions in. There were three other young men and a small boy, who she believed to be their hostage; and now they were taking her as one too, she thought. They all seemed desperate and scared. They quickly locked the door and turned the lights off, all while the boy cowered in the middle of the room. Soon they all backed away from the entrance and huddled together against her and the one restraining her. Kanai watched them closely, but they merely stood there with their backs to her and their bodies tense. The tension could also be seen on their faces, as if they were waiting for something horrible to happen. Kanai took her confused gaze away from them and focused herself back to the entrance when a light peered through her curtained window. She realized, someone was looking for them. �They must be some kind of fugitives!� she thought. As soon as her mind came to this conclusion she began to struggle. The one holding her didn�t seem to have any problem doing so but he seemed so hesitant, almost afraid that he would hurt her. She let out some muffled cries, hoping to get a reply but this only intensified their concerns and so dared not to move. With their thoughts elsewhere, Kanai finally managed to get her voice free when the man�s hand loosened.

�WHAT�S GOING ON?!� she screamed. They all looked at her in amazement and began to panic. The young man that held her quickly placed his hand over her mouth again, tighter than before. Now, worried more than ever they looked at the door, hoping no one had heard her scream. The answer they received was not a good one. The light once again peered through the window and now voices and knocks were heard at the door. A man soon commanded, �Would the owner of this apartment open up! We are looking for escapees, open up or we�ll enter by force!�

The one restraining Kanai, completely loosened his grasp. He had given up hope; they all had even the small boy looked down in disappointment. Somehow, Kanai realized she had made a terrible mistake.
