DEATH TAKES MATTHEW REID
Local Man Dies In Verdun Nursing Home; Rites Monday
   Matthew Reid, 85, a long-time resident of Streator, died Friday in a nursing home in Verdun  The body was brought to the Elias Funeral Home where friends may call after 4 o'clock Sunday afternoon. The funeral service will be held Monday afternoon at 2  o'clock in the funeral home with burial in Moon's Point cemetery.
   The deceased, the son of Matthew and Agnes (McGee) Reid, was born July 11, 1872.  He was united in marriage with Mary Warfield who died 40 years ago.
   Mr. Reid was a retired bricklayer and was member of Edina Lodge, 391, and Scottish Lodge. The Odd Fellows will conduct services at 8  o'clock Sunday  evening.
   He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Nathan (Sarah) Thompson of Thayer, Miss Margaret of Chicago, and Mrs. Janet Folkers of  Melrose Park, and a son Matthew Reid, Jr., of Chicago.  He also leaves his sister, Mrs. Jennie Ribbands of Streator and a brother, William D. of Filmore, Ky.
   There are 12 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
   He was preceded in death by a daughter, Agnes Meyers of Muncie, Ind., two sisters and a brother.
