DIED IN MINNESOTA News was received here today of the death at Sherbourne, Minn, of Mrs. Matilda McGovern, who was born in the vicinity of Coalville, and who was a sister of John Burton, a well known resident of that locality. Mr. Burton was at her bedside when she passed away, he having left Coalville for Sherbourne when he learned of her serious illness. The body will arrive in Streator over the Burlington at noon Tuesday, John Wagner will probably go to Chicago to meet the remains. Mrs. McGovern's death was due to rheumatism, with which she had been troubled for twenty-five years. She had been very sick for a week prior to her demise. Born in Pennsylvania. Mrs. McGovern, whose maiden name was Burton, was born in Erie, Pa, March 16, 1835, and was married in the vicinity of where Streator now stands in 1862. She was the mother of nine children, three of whom are dead. Those surviving are: C. M. and S. D. O'Neill (by a former marriage), of Sherburn, Minn., H. H and Peter McGovern, Kalispel, Mont. James McGovern, Spokane, Wash. Mrs. Fannie Brown, Sherburn, Minn. Other Relatives. Also, two brothers, John and Delos Burton, and one sister, Mrs. Susan Kime, besides the husband of the deceased. |
