John Bakalar
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Winterrowd Funeral Home. Burial will be in Moon Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Born Feb. 23, 1956, in Streator, he was the son of John and Virginia (Carpenter) Bakalar. Surviving are a daughter, Stephanie Crawford, of Streator; a son, Jonathon Virgil Bakalar, of Bloomington; his father, John "Jack" M. Bakalar, of Ottawa; his mother, Virginia Elliott, of Streator; a sister, Kathy (Mrs. Gary) Wilken, of Streator; brothers, Dennis Bakalar, of Streator and Erik Bakalar of Downers Grove; maternal grandmother, Helen Carpenter, of Streator; and paternal grandmother, Mary Hart Bakalar, of Streator. Employed as a security administrator by Illinois Power Nuclear Plant, Clinton, he resided in Streator most of his life, moving to Dewitt in 1987. A graduate of Streator High School, he served four years in the U.S. Air Force. |
