Andy learned to play bass as a teenager by playing along to records in his bedroom. After a couple of years of learning to cope with some very odd keys, he realised that the elastic band under his turntable had stretched and all the records had been playing at the wrong speed. Over the years, Andy worked his way through a number of bands including Doris Archer's Blues Band, Tir Na Deoch, Excalibur, The Vile Jellies, Lunchbreak, March Hare, The Pharoahs, The Amazing Ptomanian Embassy Whoopie Cushion Ensemble and the Alligator Horses. Throughout this 20 year period he avoided country music like the plague believing it to be a genre exclusively populated by men in rhinestone jumpsuits and ten gallon hats. Then one night, against his better judgement, Mr Lamb persuaded him to go down to the Guildford Arms for a jam with an outfit called the Mounthoolie 3. The rest is history.
