Well,
I`ll regard it as a success if any non-Spanish speaking person
reads this. The degree of knowledge about Asturies is very little
in the English speaking world, to say the least. I often wonder
what is the reason of this ignorance. Maybe it is all because
Asturias is currently part of Spain, but doesn`t fit at all in
the old "sun, fiesta, flamenco" clichès. Therefore, foreigners
simply ignore our existence. In addition to that, there is not
any "strife for independence" here (so far), and many people
apparently believe that the Basques have an original culture,
while the other peoples who live under the Spanish yoke have all
exactly the same inheritance, language, folktales, dances and
tunes.
This page exists (amid other reasons) to show how wrong are those
who think that way. My goal is to unveil the concealed mythology
of a forgotten country. I am sure scholars will feel delighted
at the fascinating combination of celtic and latin influences
in our culture, and I hope all the others enjoy the strange beauty
of the tales. My investigations have been collected in a book,
"The Creation of The World, the Founder Hero and Other Topics
of Asturian Mythology". In the current webpage, I include an abstract
of every chapter of my book, along with the option of downloading
it all
