| Thanks everyone for wanting to learn more about me... I'm a pretty easy going guy all together. I reside in the greatest ciy of all NYC. Yeah I still love it here. I've been here since '98 so this is where I call home. I would only think of moving outta here if I met the right person or if my job called ofr it (lets hope that doesnt happen again).. Where I have I lived before?? LOL.. all over. First off I grew up in UpState NY (and would love to retire back up there at the end of my career) but have lived 6 years in Arizona (to damn hot for this northern guy!) 1 year in Ohio, and 2 years in northern Virgina. It seems the thing that keeps me moving is my job. I'm currently only on my second employer and considering my profession that not a bad thing... more about that later. I was lucky enough to get a transfer from Arizona to NYC back in 1998 and that main reason I tell people why I did it was because I wanted to be closer to my family, which is absolutely the truth, just not all of it. I had a special someone here that gave me that final motivation to make the jump. Although that quickly fizzled out the career move was the first best thing I've done - so No Regrets!! Now all those family get togethers that I had so missed, living way out in AZ, I can easily attend. I couldnt be happier. When I was living in AZ I felt lost and somewhat alone (I guess homesick would be the operable word here) not being able to be around familiar things and people I guess I just felt like my life (on a personal side) was going no where. Most all of my brothers and sisters still live in and around New England and working in the industry that I do its difficult to get time off at holidays to get back. And that's when everyone (me excluded most of the time) would go back home. I guess i don't have what is typified as the 'average' family life. I'm one of six brothers & sisters and i love all my siblings! They're all GREAT people, some of the best people I know. We have our parents to thank for that (Thanks Mom & Dad). I'm in the middle, number four, out of four boys and two girls. As I found out in college it's a large family, but I never really thought so. Thats also when I realized just how lucky I was to grow up in a good family. I'm still amazed at the dysfunctional families out there. Its really too bad because some kids just have no chance, I feel bad for them because what they think is 'normal' should not be!... I'll get off my 'soap box' now :-) So you still might be wondering just what kinda guy I am. Well thats the easy part really... I'm easy going, love to smile and laugh at ANY opportunity, love to help people. When I was back home in Upstate NY I was involved quite heavily in Search & Rescue, in both the Adirondack and Catskill Mtns. In fact, some of the guys I was working with are some of the best people I have ever had a chance to work with. When I got out to Arizona I became a EMT and a Reserve Firefighter. That was a lot of fun and very challenging... One of the things I've wanted to do here is get recertified and / or get involved with the Auxiallry NYPD.. heck why not.. people already think Im a cop! As for what I do for a living huh?? It's nothing that typical, but it is a blue collar job. If I dont know some one and they ask me what I do for a living Ill tell them that "Im a mechanic on 18 wheelers & Buses". What I actually do ?.. I'm basically an Aircraft Maintenance Technician, currently working for one of the top rated airlines in the US (and no I'm not going to tell you here who that is... guess if you want). I'm proud of what I do, imensly. With my previous employer my duties included being 'Flight Mechanic'. This required me to fly with our aircraft (B-747-200) and take care of them when we go 'off station', which means that when we fly to anywhere that we don't have our own people I'm the one who does all the maintenance, and if the aircraft doesn't break it's kinda like a mini vacation that I get paid for. So far I've been to Norway, Guam, Japan, Korea, Africa, Russia and different countries in South America. It was lot of work but very satisfying when you get done because you know you've done a good job (or the aircraft wouldn't be flying). As for what I do now? I'm ground based again (thankfully) just working for my current employer at JFK. As you can guess by reading this I'm really happy in what I do, unlike a lot of people. I'm in a career not a 'job'. I know where I am, who I am and most importantly where I'm going. Click this link to read some of my responsibilities as a Maintenance Controller So what I like to find in friends is, a good heart, good laugh, constant smile and sense of adventure, both about the surrounding far and near as well as life itself. If theirs one thing I just cant stand its a "know it all", granted I dont and certainly dont profess to know half of anything but the MOST important thing is to keep an open mind about stuff. Well if you find this diatribe interesting or whatever Id love to hear from you! Seriously!
