As soon as my Dad left I began work, though he said "You can start windexing the windows and things like that" I had a completely different plan in mind. W ent to Dads toolbox in search of a couple of spanners, I picked up a few metrics and went back to my car. The guards were the first chore. I started undoing the front guards off the car. A whole nine 15mm bolts were holding it on, but all were loose. This came as a shock for me beacuse the car had been out in the open for such a long time in Kalgoorlie. Once I took a guard off, I noticed that theywere costom guards made entirely from fiberglass, which made them extremely light weight. The front guards had been widthened 45mm and had EH Holden headlights in them. Hard to beleive the bug I had was allreaddy looking like a bit of a street machine. I moved both guards into a shed I had prepared before hand, which was going to store all my panells. And once with both guards off I really felt like it was my own. In search of the next mission I looked at the back guards. These back guards were fiberglass, widthened 45mm and had LC Torana tail lights placed in them. These guards were easy to remove as well and I acheived this in a short period of time. The car was allreaddy looking barer and I was in heaven working on my own car. I was now looking for another small misiion when I noticed the bonnet and boot. I stepped up to the boot and opened it, expecting to find a couple of bolts that wold need undoing. But I lifted it up and it had came straight off. Kim Blackinston (Ex-owner of the car) had taken the engine out of this car to put into his beetle that he was restoring, in this process he had not bolted the boot back on so It came off with ease. Once this was stored I managed (with jay) to push the 1966 beetle into a little concrete bay where it would stay overnight. The next morning I woke early to go acheive something on my car. I headed out there and decided to take off the doors. This was acheived by removing two bolts on the inside. and after a simple storage Dad came out to take a few photographs. When Dad came out to see the car practicly stripped of all pannels he looked shocked! But never-the-less the first photo was taken.

The next thing to look at was the floor. Which was difficutl because it was covered completely in wires, dash acessories, windows, old rags ect. Looking at it from one veiw you could say it was a pig sty! But still work had to be done. I headed out onto the car and

Once all this was acheived I was looking for the next project when I was told something quite scary! Next Page
