Dalat
Saigon
south Vietnam
Dalat is a nice town. The weather is very cool, the surrounds are green. The town has a strong influence from the European days evident in the architectures of the town (below left).

The town is quite developed but still very much surrounded by more serene village life where people live on their own accord, happily enough it seems (left, right, above).

Within the township it is easy enough to experience the Dalat day and night markets (below right), the choice of food and observing the culture (silk weaving, below).

A motorbike tour of the town and surrounds is definitely worthwhile. You can rent a motorbike for yourself or have a guide.
I began my solo backpacking trip of Vietnam in Saigon. I really must advice against this for anyone who does not like a mad environment ... it's much crazier than Bangkok, Thailand. Hanoi is a much better city to begin my trip. But of course, i realised this at the END of my trip. heh heh. But the entire trip throughout Vietnam was a worthwhile experience for me.

I must admit that Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) is not one of my favourite places in Vietnam. It is much too hectic for me, the people are quite agressive and pushy in their trade. I did not stay there very long.

I hear that further south in the Mekong Delta area it is much more calm and inviting to explore. But in my haste to escape the madness of Saigon i had excluded the far from my itinerary. I do want to go back some time to this area - because i am now aware of the way of Saigon!
This was the way Saigon buildings were set in the most part of Saigon (left, right). This look did not appeal to me ...
