| Paganism and Magick |
I was raised more or less Christian. My parents were hardly forceful about religion. We didn't go to church. It was just understood there was God, there was heaven, and there was hell where you went if you were bad. I never questioned it. Those things were certainties. Then I got to a certain age and it occurred to me that I might not be able to take those things for granted. I have no idea what triggered this realization, but it shook my world. I was a loner as a child, and spent a lot of time in the woods. I began to invent my own religion, based on what I thought was true. I started to believe that nature was divine, and that there was no God as the Bible would have me believe. I believed that nature was alive and a goddess, and that that all living creatures were sacred, no matter whether they were tree, horsefly, or human. In every living thing, rock, water, soil, plant, animal, there was an inherent wisdom, a way of doing things and knowing things, and a connection to the greater life force of the Earth. This website was created in order to allow me to vent my creative impulses whenever I feel like it. In addition, it allows me to organize my ideas, and write about something Im interested in (philosophy, religion, magick). On top of that, there is the small chance that someone might actually come across my site and learn something from it. A very small chance, considering I dont really have anything up yet that cant be found a million other places. I welcome any comments, thoughts, ideas, suggestions, corrections, or questions. |

| I feel I have to put a Disclaimer on this page: First, I'm not Wiccan. Just in case there's any confusion. Second, I'm Pagan, but I wasn't raised Pagan. I am simply Pagan by choice, by calling, or by chance, I'm not sure which yet. I'm not affiliated with any religion or tradition, I'm not a priestess or high priestess anywhere, no one's ever formally trained me in anything, I make everything up as I go along, I read books and look at websites and exchange ideas with people and try to work out what's best, but I have no credentials of any sort, and I don't think I need them. I call myself Pagan because I am a child of the Earth, because I revere nature, because I believe in magick, and because I believe that value is inherent in all things. |
| It seems like each religion has its own particular mood with which it approaches the world. To me Paganism is a religion of laughter and joy. Its about loving and being loved. I believe that people are not above or separate from nature. We are a part of it. The Earth under our feet is alive, breathing, growing, and changing as we all do. It's also conscious, it knows things. We are to the Earth as our body cells are to us. The ecosystems of the planet are like organs. We are a living, functioning part, of a living, functioning being. Interpret that as you will. |
