Tonight I was asked if had had watched the Grammy's. My answer: No. Why? Because for one, I have homework to be doing. The other reason is that I don't like the way they glamorize such a pointless ceremony. A marriage, that's important (most of the time); funerals, those are important; graduation ceremonies, you bet; but an awards ceremony for music? I don't think so. Musicians are awarded enough with the fact that they have thousands of adoring fans buying their music. Why an awards ceremony? Because TV had to find a way to glamorize the music industry. For some reason, the whole country goes mentally numb for a few hours to watch a pointless awards ceremony. I don't get it. I really don't. Maybe it is because I am an adolescent teen, with teenage angst. If someone could explain to me the importance of the Grammy's I'd be thankful. Instead of watching the Grammy's we could be doing other constructive things around the house, or helping good causes, like the Salvation Army. The Grammy's just glamorize what half of us will never be. They give us high hopes and then crush them when we learn we suck at being musicians. Maybe people like the Grammy's because they like to see people succeed in life. I don't think that is it either. As of today, award ceremonies are pointless, fashion shows. That's all it is. A fashion show. And the groundlings of the United States, the public, eat it up. Such things divide the classes. The upper classes, consisting of the rich and famous, stand there and let the lower classes adore them. I don't know about you, but I don't like watching hours of TV where people in snazzy clothes get awards. I find it pointless.
