Chapter 4
So, are you coming hunting with me next week? William asked his friend. Wait, wait. Youre going hunting? With him? Diana asked bewildered. Yeah, so? Thomas asked, oh, yeah. You dont like people hunting. I forgot. You cant possibly want to kill an innocent creature. Said Diana. Diana, if we kill an animal we eat it, and the purpose of hunting is for survival. William explained. William, we dont need to kill animals on our own for food anymore. That is what the store is for. Or is that Royal behind of yours too lazy to get up and go there? Diana asked with a quizzing look on her face. William the gentleman that he was just ignored her. He wasnt in the mood for another fight.
Diana was having a hard time keeping her strong emotions in. Each on would reflect in her eyes. Flashing like a light bulb when someone kept turn it on and off. She could feel herself changing. Diana got up and ran out of the restaurant. William and Thomas watched her go.
Is she ok? William asked with concern. She will be, she always gets like this when someone mentions hunting or something in that general area. Its as if shes an animal herself. Thomas said shaking his head looking at the counter they were sitting at. Its getting pretty cloudy, maybe we should go get her. William said. Nah, Ive had enough with her. She knows the way home. Said Thomas. Well, Im going. Its not safe for her. Shes only been here for a couple of weeks. William said getting up and following Diana.
William ran across the street as it started to drizzle. He could see Diana sitting on a bench in the park. As he got closer, Diana picked up the sound of his footsteps crunching on the now, wet grass. He sat down next to her and asked, are you alright? Why do you care? Diana asked defensively. Youre me mates sister. And Im the future king, I have to care about the people who live here. William said. How come only the people? Animals should have the same rights as us, I mean were animals too. Diana asked William questionably.
Diana, animals are treated fairly here. Thats why you always need a license to hunt or fish. You have to understand that I hunt with my father. I dont like to hurt animals, but its one of the only things that I get to do with my father nowadays. For now on I promise to let every animal that we are not going to use go. It wont be hurt in anyway. William said. You promise to let every animal go thats not needed for every time you hunt? Asked Diana. Yeah, I promise. He said. Thanks, I guess youre not that bad. Diana said with a small smile. Of course Im not that bad. Im William. He said smiling.
