Pinus Brutia The Pinus brutia is like most pine. It has the typical needle leaves, fruit and overall shape of the pine tree. I've always had an affinity for the pine because childhood memories of sweeping country side with borders of pine. I've worked so much with the wood I felt maybe it was time to work with growing it! 16/12/01 Above is a picture of my beloved pine today. Notice the difference between it in the picture above compared with the picture below- at least a doubling in height! 13/12/01 Wow this little tree has grown since the picture below!! I would have to say that it is my most successful seedling. It is great to work with and very tolerant. It is not a native but a pleasure to work with. I suggest to all beginners that they should consider a pine when finding a subject. 16/10/01 The pine is an interesting tree to look at and to grow. The photo above is of my only pine seedling. It is one of a few from my soaking test which germinated-with the only others being swamp oak. My seedling is about 5 to 10 cm tall. I've mover it into a large pot, as like most of my plants, in hope that this will give it enough moisture and nutrients to continue its healthy growth. It shares a pot with three other pine seeds.
