Swamp oak
Casuarina glauca
The swamp oak is a native to Australia. It has the
type of long green, thin branches which most people believe are leaves.
It's true leaves are very tiny. I hope to get some photos to explain
this better. I don't know why I wish to Bonsai this tree- maybe purely
out of curiosity. As the name suggests, they like a lot of water.

Above is a photo of my little Australian swamp oak
seedlings. All four are doing well, however the little one, second from
the right, was very weak in the beginning and has not grown straight
because of it. It has recently began to get buds so I feel
confident in its continuing health. My plane tree is in the same pot and
can be seen on the bottom right.

I have to date, four tiny shoots. I tried to get photo
of them today but was unsuccessful as they are still too small- a few
millimeters above the soil. I will keep you informed and will get photos
soon.
